ReplyDelete@Dupasek would the same apply to the Brikka pot ? I've tried (from #0.5-3.0 on my stove) heats from 2-3 and many different grinds(from medium down to a bit more coarse than espresso) and so on and while I get great crema and everything and wait for 4 seconds after it pops up the coffee doesn't get hotter than 160-175°F. Maybe the coffee is supposed to be no hotter than 175°F and drunk immediately ?
ReplyDeleteThis video is wrong, finely ground coffee will release to many volatile chemicals and your espresso will taste bitter. You should use a medium ground coffee.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try it!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can also sound like a douche on youtube
ReplyDeleteI have made a couple of experiments with my mukkas and it seems that (as they say in the manual) the heat under it should be really low/small to get the coffee hot!
ReplyDeleteIf you keep getting your cappuccino cold just decrease the heat under the mukka.
Full flavored coffee, yes....cappuccino, no. These moka pots do not generate nearly enough pressure to make true cappuccino. You can paint "henhouse" on any old shack but that doesn't mean there are any chickens inside. Call it whatever you want to, cappuccino it aint.
ReplyDeleteBought yesterday, had the best cup of cappucino I ever had. Tip: I added some sugar to the milk, which had it ready to drink instantly for those who like sugar, and sprinkled a tad of quality cinnamon on top. mmmmm
ReplyDeleteSeems that this way of making cappuccino leaves the milk rather under-heated. I got two Mukka Expresses - one with metal upper-body and one with glass one. And the cappucino made in the metal one is just enough warm to drink but the one from the glass express is just cold.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's the difference excep int the material. Don't think that thermal conductance of these two materials has any influence here.
I've made coffee in the mukka about three times now and it keeps getting cold. Any ideas why?
ReplyDeleteTry this: LEAVE THE LID OPEN to avoid the build up and overflow of milk, then it should just bubble to the top and not overflow..
ReplyDeleteCan you use it without the milk? I'd rather not have to buy to different ones.
ReplyDeleteJust bought it on sale, and it did make a nice cup of cappuccino, one tip: better not to try open the lid to check it out when first time using it---cappu foam spread everywhere on my table... ^^
ReplyDeleteooooo ya, ive got one of these beauties. They never let me down, even when im not in the mood for a cappuccino, this brings a great sigh of relief to my mind. I love the froth it produces, lulu enjoys it too. Lulu is my cow.
ReplyDeleteI just got mine. Did an experiment this morning and the whole thing BLOW !!!
ReplyDeleteMistake (According to this video)
1) Don't add 2 cup of water in the base
2) Once the lit pop. Don't press it down again.
WARNING : Ignore this and the thing will BLOW !!! hahaha...*Serious....*
I'm not a big cappuccino drinker, I would rather have cafe au lait, but that does make a good looking cup for those who drink it.
ReplyDeleteI just might have to buy one, so I don't have to use my frothing wand separately when guests come over.
The Mukka makes a better-than-so-so faux cappuccino. Lower pot is large and very difficult to grasp firmly to tighten and loosen, especially for someone with weak hands, arthritis, etc.

ReplyDeleteso relaxing to watch
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious!
ReplyDelete@CrystalGoddess101 I think you can buy a Bodum Shin Bistro 5-Ounce Milk Frother
ReplyDeleteand a Bialetti Brikka 4-Cup Stovetop Percolator at Amazon .com or a Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Espresso Makers:
Absolutely amazing cinematography =D Best video of making coffee I've seen before
ReplyDeleteI loved your effect of grabbing the cocoa dog
Very cool video.
ReplyDeleteBest info on using a Moka Express is actually a user review on amazon, on the six cup Bialetti Moka Express, first review there by T. Speidel. Great video btw, well shot and edited.
ReplyDelete@CrystalGoddess101 I didn't but I think you can get both from Amazon. The coffee mill has mixed reviews, mine's great but they are cheap so I imagine quality is mixed and I got lucky - HTH :)
ReplyDeletewhere can i get the La Cafetiere coffee mill and Bodum Latteo milk frother, or something like it? anyways, AWESOME VIDEO!!! TOP NOTCH N HOPSCOTCH!!!!
ReplyDelete@Aldehyde21 Nice of you to say so but no. I have a diploma in photography but I bought the video camera in December, downloaded the trial version of Premiere Pro, worked through some tutorials on Adobe TV and this was the result. I've never worked in video before, did a bit of super 8 when I was a kid. So, thanks for the compliment :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! Fantastic video!
ReplyDeleteLove the sounds of grinding and assembling the Bialetti. You've obviously taken a film class or two.
@ptoda123 Be sure to use coffee ground for espresso (filter coffee is too fine and cafetiere stuff not fine enough) or grind your own (ideal). Should be about like sand grains. I find cafetiere grinds make especially watery and nasty coffee in the bialetti. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteso i ended up getting the regular moka express because i wanted to serve for than 1 person sometimes (brikka only 2 cup or 4 cup i heard). still trying to get the hang out it hehe. my coffee is a bit bitter and not as flavorful as i like yet =/
ReplyDeletecool thanks for the tips man, appreciate it :)
ReplyDelete@ptoda123 I've not tried the Brikka but they look cool! I use the Bialetti for long drinks, cappuccino or americano, and I have a 'Presso' which makes a double espresso (like the Brikka I think?) and it rocks :)
