Most importantly, the coffee tastes great--far superior than tasted through my Cuisinart brewer. The water head seems to cook the coffee more thoroughly than my previous coffee maker. Also, the thermal design keeps it warm and not bitter for three hours. The standard gold filter provided is a nice touch. The Capresso coffeemaker is definitely worth the money.

Best Coffee Maker, Ever
I thought long and hard before spending this amount of money on a coffee maker, but once I did, I have not looked back. This coffee maker brews coffee and it is in my mug in 6 minutes. It is fast like a BUNN, but brews in a way that gets the best taste out of the coffee bean. I am not a coffee snob, but I do like a good, fast cup of coffee. The thermal carafe is a huge plus and keeps the coffee hot enough for me for about 3 hours. I also use the filters recommended for this maker, and I suggest that you use them as well as there is no scale buildup from using tap water to brew. Treat yourself, you'll be glad you did!
One of the best coffee makers
I purchased this model because it is an exact replacement for the same model I had for 12 years. My previous unit saw heavy duty service making 2-4 pots a day. It had been damaged by water soaking the electronics in a small kitchen accident. There was no questiohn in my mind what coffee maker I wanted. The only brand that surpasses Capresso is Technivorm and that is a somewhat less convenient unit to use.
The coffee is brewed at the proper temperature. The thermal pot keeps it hot for hours. I co8uldn't be more satisfied.
Timely Upgrade
The thermal carafe makes this an incrimental improvement over the old design of warming the coffee pot with a heat plate that tends to over cook the coffee as the level of coffee goes down. The last pour tastes as fresh as the first. Also the easily replaceable water filters help overcome local water impurities.
Great Coffe Maker!
I researched coffee makers for three days before deciding on the Capresso 440.05 MT-500. What influenced my decision was the fact that this is a 1200 watt machine (hot water is important for good coffee extration), the thermal carafe (no more burnt last cup of coffee), and a stylish design that fits nicely under overhead cabinets. Don't confuse this with the Cappresso model MT-600, which is made in China. This coffee maker is made in Potugal and likely has been discontinued. Although the MT-500 and MT-600 look similar, from what I read in reviews, the design was changed when the place of manufacture was changed. The MT-500 is well made with a nice fit and finish. The bottom line is that it makes great tasting coffee!
